Tianjin Dashentang Wind Farm Starts Equipment Installation in Binhai New Area

● Tianjin Dashentang Wind Farm, the first wind farm under construction of Tianjin, lies south to Sajintuo Village of Hangu of Binhai New Area and is 4 km from the east of Dashentang village. It covers a total area of about 3.5 sq.km. Its installed capacity is 26 MW and the investment in it totals RMB 370 million.
  ●The wind farm will install wind turbines with independent intellectual property right whose unit capacity is the largest for commercial operation on land, whose blade diameter is the longest and whose technology is the most advanced at present. In addition, it will adopt for the first time the most world-advanced distributed grid access method.  
 
  ● That wind farm can provide clean and reliable green power of 52,130,000 kilowatt-hours each year for the development and construction of Binhai New Area and can provide power for over 50,000 households on the basis that each household consumes power of 87 kWh each month.
 
  ● Each year, the wind farm can save for the country standard coal of 19,000 tons, water of 30,400 tons, and reduce emission of 6,000 tons of carbon dioxide, 88 tons of nitrogen oxides, 10.4 tons of smoke dust, and 39.2 tons of sulfur dioxide.

At 10:50 on February 1, 2010, at Tianjin Jinneng Dashentang Wind Farm, the first one under construction of Tianjin, the 750-ton crawler crane hoisted slowly the first tower and steadied it on the insert ring. The first hoisting of Tianjin Wind Farm was a complete success! It is a symbol that the farm has completed its civil engineering and entered the key period for equipment installation. Milestone for Green Energy Development of the New Area

  It Has Set Several No. 1 Records during Its Construction
Bai Hongbin, deputy general manager of Tianjin Jinneng Wind Power Co., Ltd, told the reporter, “the makeshift roads and wind turbines hoisting platform of Dashentang Wind Farm Project, since their construction at the end of July 2009, has set several No. 1 records in China. It is the first wind farm in China that applies world advanced distributed gird access method. There is only 8.1 km from the power generation terminal to the power grid. All electricity generated is used, causing hardly any losses, which can minimize the consumption during the power transmission and notably improve the utilization ratio of energies and quality of the power energy of the electricity grid system. At the same time, this project is the first one built on region of 8.0-magnitude earthquake strength and will provide precious experiences for regions of bad geological conditions to build wind farms. The 13 wind turbines to enter commercial operation soon have totally independent intellectual property right and at present, their unit capacity is the largest for land-based installation, their blade diameter is the longest and their technology is the most advanced. It will play an active role in promoting the development of domestic manufacturing of wind turbines.”
 
It Will Become the New Sight of the New Area
This July, when you drive to the shore, the coastline of Binhai New Area will present you a new fairy-like view. As told by Bai Hongbin, within two months, the 13 wind turbines with unit capacity of 2 MW will be all in place and will be debugged in April. At the end of April, the first wind turbine will be connected to the electricity grid, and at the end of June, all wind turbines will be connected to the grid and begin power generation. At that time, the azure sky, dots of white clouds, clear sea waters and blue waves make the sky and sea merged together, just under such a background, on the 13 80-meter-high keels, huge white blades of 93-meter diameter stand quietly by the sea and turns driven by the wind. Standing by the sea, these great windmills, as high as a 10-storey building and with its blade spreading like a football filed, will become the new landscape for industrial tourism of Binhai New Area.
 
Why Wind Farms Are Built in the New Area?
Binhai New Area has its unique advantages for development of wind power. It is reported that on-land wind energy of Tianjin mainly concentrate in Binhai New Area where the wind speed is faster in March to May each year. At that time, the wind blows in a rational frequency and the speed varies steadily. Under such conditions, it is very economic for both design and operation of wind turbines. At present, Binhai New Area has gathered nearly 30 manufacturers of complete wind turbines and enterprises of major parts and accessories, becoming one of the regions of the most concentrated wind power equipment manufactures in China. Therefore, it has greatly facilitated import, installation and transport of wind power equipment and accessories and has not only reduced costs but also can provide forceful backup of technologies and talents. Early in March 2004, Hangu had started the exploration of wind power generation and built 3 wind towers at the west of Dashentang port dock, east side of Taijiabao Village of Yingchen Town and in the Kiev Aircraft Carrier Park of Tianjin International Amusement Port. The results show that the wind energy density of Hangu area, the coastal area in particular, reaches the Grade-3 and such a condition is good for development of wind farm. According to the plan, by 2020, 5 wind farms of total scale of 230,000 KW will be built in the coastal area of Binhai New Area.
